You will build a list faster offline. Use offline direct mail lists and market to them offline to really identify who your list is. You can't buy an email list and market to them online because this is considered spam.

Having a lot of testimonials on the page can be good or bad. You really have to test it to see. I usually find the best testimonial and put it on the page. Use Google Analytics or Hyper Tracker to test it.
Use the time before the launch to start testing it. This way you will have a better promotion.

Answer: I would highly urge you to split test. Drive traffic to the page and see which modifications yield you the most conversions.
